I decided one day to look beneath,
Not the eyes, not the skin, but the soul underneath.
I got up and looked at my reflection
here, my flaws changed to perfection
There went my footsteps down the streets,
slowly and slowly –
even yesterday’s horrors became the sweets.
My mind, my thoughts, my words; were stuck in a thrilling play
I wish someone saw the world through my eyes that day.
Out and out, they search all eternity,
something which lies close in the vicinity.
Eternally pure and beautiful they would have found,
had they stopped their searches on the ground.
Some are lost in their quest to find the eternal,
I question, have you ever asked the internal ?
Countless days and nights, when you cried he cried with you too.
Wondering how many more nights it would take for the humans to gather,
everything they search for outside is right beneath the mundane matter.
But the coverings that surround us are far too thick for anyone to look beneath.
So, I hushed down the voices in my head, locked away my mind, my thoughts, my words; which were stuck in a thrilling play
I wish someone saw the world through my eyes, that day.
