One Day You’ll Be Gone

And one day you’ll be gone,
carried away by the wind like a speck of dust.
You’ll embrace the oblivion.
Remnants of your existence might linger on;
Sometimes in the pocket of your lover
or on a crooked frame hung on a wall
Tears of your loved one might trickle down that frame.
But the clock will still strike sharp at nine as the seasons come and go.
Your silence will still echo amongst the chatter as the poeple come and go.
And just like that you’ll be gone,
carried by the wind Iike a speck of dust.
Embracing the oblivion, bowing down to your fate.

-Amna J. Khan

In the world of Amna J. Khan, the journey of writing poems commenced in primary school, initially as a fun pastime. However, it soon transformed into a powerful means of expression, enabling her to convey sentiments that were hard to articulate plainly to the world. For Amna, writing serves a dual purpose – a mode of expression and a complete escape. She sees poems as safe havens for difficult truths, providing solace and shade in moments when the world turns its back.
