They say misery loves company.
That statement comes
with negative connotations.
Because I think grief
is seeking something relative.
A connection that feels normal.
Singular grief seeks a pair.
A twin.
Matching socks.
A shared visual.
Eyes that make them feel safe
in their struggle.
Grief seeks the grief
inside of someone else.
Because a person who isn’t
afraid of their own shadow,
won’t be afraid of yours.
